The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior QA Tester to join our team on a 6-month contract, with potential for extension. This role will be a cornerstone for our QA department, with the potential to evolve into a Head of QA as the team expands.

 

As the first member of this growing department, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the direction and methodologies of our QA processes.

Job type 

6 month full-time contract role with flexible hours, remote only.

What you would be doing​

  • Develop and enhance testing frameworks, especially focusing on automation.

  • Set up and maintain automated tests to ensure game reliability and performance.

  • Perform thorough manual testing where automation is not feasible, ensuring all game aspects are rigorously tested.

  • Lead the adoption of best practices for continuous testing throughout the development lifecycle.

  • Work closely with development teams to integrate QA processes using Unreal Engine 5 and extend the capabilities of Unreal’s Gauntlet testing framework.

  • Participate in planning and estimation of upcoming work and provide insights

  • Design and execute detailed test plans and test cases for both single and multiplayer game modes.

  • Identify, record, and track bugs, as well as collaborate with developers for timely resolution.

  • Provide insightful feedback to improve game quality and player experience.

What you must have

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in QA within the game development industry.

  • Strong familiarity with Unreal Engine 5

  • Expertise in both automated testing tools and frameworks and manual testing processes.

  • Excellent understanding of continuous testing best practices.

  • Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork-oriented attitude.

  • Passionate about gaming and driven by a desire to produce high-quality games.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.

  • Availability between 11 am and 3 pm on weekdays (New Zealand time)

What is advantageous to have

  • Experience in extending Unreal Engine's Gauntlet.

  • Experience with testing multiplayer games.

  • Experience with Cert for Xbox and PlayStation.

  • A commercially released game built with the Unreal Engine.

  • Experience with agile development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban.

  • Experience making AAA games.
